Reddit Username Rules

When picking a username on Reddit, there are a few technical rules you must follow to ensure your account is created successfully.

The 20-Character Constraint

All Reddit usernames must be between 3 and 20 characters long. If your name is too short or too long, Reddit will reject it.

Allowed Characters

  • Letters: a-z and A-Z (usernames are not case sensitive for login but display case).
  • Numbers: 0-9.
  • Symbols: Only underscores (`_`) and hyphens (`-`) are allowed.
